The port of Palinuro is the departure point for taking boat trips to the Grotta Azzurra (Blue Cave) and other caves on the Tyrrhenian coast. Palinuro offers great caves that sink into the cliffs. Due to its geological formation, the caves in Palinuro are found both above sea level and below.

Along the central streets of Palinuro, the villas whitened with lime and the low hotels sit next to olive groves where the breeze makes the leaves rustle. The village is full of rocky inlets ideal for swimming, while the soft white sands and deck chairs near the port make it the perfect place for sunbathing or walking in the shallow waters.

Local attractions include underwater caves accessible by boat. The Blue Grotto, one of the most beautiful, where sunlight enters through an eight metre passageway giving the water a brilliant blue hue.

Near the mouth of the river Mingardo, the beach of the Natural Arch is one of the most beautiful places in Cilento, which is also used by cinemas in films such as Rise of the Argonauts 2 and Clash of Titans. The beach is famous for the rocky arch that surrounds an isolated beach. From there the paths for excursions begin to the caves of Cape Palinuro.
